The Ordinariate of
Our Lady of Walsingham
at St.Osmund’s Catholic Church,
Gainford, DL2 3DZ.
WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT
The Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham, and the Darlington Group in particular, are dependent upon the financial commitment of its members. We receive no grants or external donations for our work and the support of our full-time priest.
Christian Stewardship reflects our personal devotion to God and our dedication to his work in the Catholic Church at Saint Osmund’s, Gainford, and through The Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham.
Already, our excellence in liturgy, music, pastoral care, concern for others, assisting with the maintenance and upkeep of St. Osmund’s church, house and grounds is being recognised and appreciated. The church is open 365 days a year, and the Mass is celebrated daily. All this, like much in life, comes at a cost. We rely solely upon the faith and generosity of all our members and friends to do their part.
As we give out our weekly freewill envelopes for the next year and increase our giving for the hire organ, this provides us with the opportunity to reflect our levels of giving.
The Book of Genesis gives us guidance on how to think about what to give – or better said – give back to God. The Biblical standard is 10% - but what is important is that all of us try to give in proportion to our resources. The Darlington Ordinariate needs and values every pledge and every donation, from the widow’s mite to our leading givers. We who give consider what we have been given by the Lord, and we mindfully reflect and pray on what is the appropriate fraction of our goods that should be given back for work here at St. Osmund’s, Gainford.
PLEASE BE PART OF OUR PLANNED GIVING SCHEME. More information from Mr Harry Alderson & Mr Ray Burr (01325 284186 & 01325 463666) The Darlington Ordinariate has large financial commitments and needs regular and sacrificial giving.
WE HAVE TO BE FINANCIALLY INDEPENDENT. PLEASE HELP US, AND CONSIDER GIVING BY STANDING ORDER OR THROUGH OUR WEEKLY ENVELOPE SCHEME. If you are a taxpayer, please sign up to gift aid and use the gift aid envelopes available from the back of church.
Please also try to attend our Social events throughout the year, this brings in a considerable revenue and is vital in our efforts to raise the overall funds that we need. Even if you are unable to attend an event - please consider making a donation towards it such donations can make a real difference.
If you use the Internet to order goods or services, please do sign up for the EASYFUNDRAISING SCHEME, each time you buy something on line the Group receives a small percentage AT NO EXTRA COST TO YOU - and these small sums add up. Details of the scheme are on this website or please talk to Alan Gerrard about it.
We have all achieved much these past three years, and we have much to give God thanks for. Your giving and generosity have set us on a sound financial footing, but to maintain this we must try to increase our giving each year and encourage others to support our work. May God grant you a generous heart and joy in your giving. Please contact Mr Alderson or Mr Burr as soon as you can. Many thanks.
